Videoconferencing Instructions

For all videoconferences:

  1. Participants at remote endsites are highly encouraged to bring and use an Internet-connected computer or mobile device to the videoconference.
  2. Remote endsites should plan to connect to Wesley NLT (no later than) 15 minutes prior to the start of a scheduled videoconference so the presentation can begin promptly.

“Playing with Media” videoconferencing workshops by Wesley Fryer are offered with different connection options. Connection optons include:

  1. Connecting directly via H.323 videoconferencing endpoints (Tandberg, Polycom, Lifesize, etc.)
  2. Connecting to a videoconferencing bridge using H.323 videoconferencing endpoints (for a multipoint call with more than two participants)
  3. Connecting directly via Skype
  4. Connecting to the Blue Jeans Network with either an H.323 videoconferencing endpoint or Skype (for a multipoint call with more than two participants)

Option 1: Direct H.323 Videoconferencing

A test call will be scheduled in advance of the videoconference. Your videoconferencing technician (or call host) will exchange IP address information with Wesley in advance of the test call, along with direct cell phone number contact details. Depending on network configurations, you can either dial into Wesley for the call or Wesley can dial you.

Option 2: H.323 Bridge

A test call will be scheduled in advance of the videoconference. Wesley will provide you with the IP address of a videoconferencing bridge and PIN (personal identification number) which you will need to enter after dialing to join the call. Your videoconferencing technician (or call host) will exchange direct cell phone number contact details with Wesley in advance.

Option 3: Direct Skype Connection

A test call will be scheduled in advance of the videoconference. Your videoconferencing technician (or call host) will exchange skype ID names and direct cell phone number contact details with Wesley in advance.

Option 4: Blue Jeans Network Bridged Connection

A test call will NOT be scheduled in advance of the videoconference, but host site technicians should verify equipment/software is up to date and functional. Follow these steps to connect to the videoconference bridged by Blue Jeans.

Step 1: In a web browser visit http://bluejeans.com/wfryer. Click on the name of the conference you want to join.

Step 2: Enter the PASSCODE you received via email from Wesley and click JOIN MEETING.

Step 3: Click on the connection type you want. Skype or Room Conferencing (H.323 endpoint) are recommended.

Step 4: If connecting via Skype, make sure you have the required Skype version installed on the computer you’re using for the videoconference. Then click CALL.

Step 5: If connecting via a Rom System (H.323 video endpoint) connect to the IP address shown. Then enter the PAIRING CODE you see after connecting to the Blue Jeans bridge. Click CONNECT.

Those are all the connection steps. If you run into problems, you can call Wesley directly on his cell phone number (provided to you via email) for assistance.

A text backchannel may be provided for some videoconferences. If utilized, the link for the backchannel will be provided to you via email AND shown at the start of the videoconference.
